Sweater Dress + Clara Handbag

Hello All!

Fall has arrived, and I am here for it! I actually love dressing for Fall because you can wear sweaters, and boots, and jackets. I am a turtleneck and a cowl neck sweater girl all day and I will probably be wearing some version of this throughout the rest of the year and the winter months next year. I paired this dress with knee-length boots that I found at the Bass Outlet in the clearance section and the Clara Handbag. The Clara Handbag is the next pdf pattern in the LeJanaroB Patterns collection, which includes a step by step video course. This handbag features a front pocket with 3 sections, a recessed zipper, and an inside slip and zipper pocket. You can check out the review of the Clara Handbag on the Stay Stitching YouTube channel here. You can find the Clara Handbag pattern here.

The dress is Simplicity 8738 when I saw this pattern, I knew I had to have it because of the turtleneck and the length of the sleeves. I fell in love with sleeves that go past your wrist watching Vanessa Marcil on General Hospital. I absolutely loved her still and she made it look sooooo good! I knew that I wanted to make View A because it was long enough for me to be a dress. I haven’t made or worn a sweater dress in a while, so I felt it was time.

The pattern was straightforward, and you know how much I love a pattern that I can put together in under 2 hours. This view only had 4 pieces, the front, back, sleeves, and collar. I used a lightweight sweater knit that I bought from Fine Fabrics a couple of years ago. I wanted to save this fabric for the infinity scarves that I make and sell but I had plenty to make this dress so I said why not!

If you are looking for a step by step tutorial on this pattern, check out Brittney J Jones, Sew in 30 series on her YouTube channel. I’ll link the video here. This is a quick and easy make for beginners, so you should definitely give it a try. Happy sewing!
