McCall’s 7836

Hello all! I hope that you all are having a wonderful day! Today I want to talk to you about this wonderful McCall’s 7836 top. When I saw this pattern, I had to have it because of the dramatic sleeves. It took me a while to make it, but I finally got it done. I decided to make this top in a black Ponte knit, but in hindsight I think a brighter color like red or a print would have been a better choice. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the top because black is my favorite color. This top was fairly easy to put together, the only time I needed to check the instructions was putting together the sleeves, and even then, the picture diagram was enough for me to follow. This pattern is classified as easy on the McCall’s website, so this is a great pattern for beginners.

I paired this look with two options, the first is jeans because I love being comfortable. This shirt was perfect with jeans and you can wear heels or sneakers. I also had a chance to grab my black and gold KaryAll Clutch to complete the outfit. If you haven’t seen the KaryAll Clutch, it is a free pattern to my newsletter subscribers. It has the PDF pattern, instructions with pictures, and a step by step video tutorial. You can grab the pattern here. You can view the tutorial here.

The second option I paired the top with is Simplicity 8982, the longer pencil skirt. I love a good pencil skirt and this one is amazing. It’s is very easy to make with only 3 pieces, the front, back, and waistband. There are 2 darts in the back skirt, and it has an elastic waistband. The only change that I would make is pegging in a little bit at the hem of the skirt. Overall I love this pattern and I can’t wait to make more in different colors and prints.
