5 Motivation Strategies

Hello All!

Happy New Year! At the beginning of every year we make resolutions and by the third week of the year, those resolutions have gone out the window. Now I’m just talking about me, I know that you all always keep your new years resolutions! Since this is the first day of 2019, what better time to talk about staying motivated. Below are 5 strategies to help you stay motivated to complete your tasks:

Change your mind

The mind is powerful! Changing your thoughts can change the way that you perceive the task or goal that you have to complete. Instead of saying that “I really don’t feel like doing this”, say “Once I have completed this task, I will be closer to the goal I have set”.

Ask for help

Sometimes we need others to motivate us to complete a task. Even if we don’t need someone to motivate us, we need someone to help hold us accountable. Make sure that you are asking like-minded people, those that have similar goals.

Imitate a master

There are several different books, blogs, or podcasts from people who at some point in their lives needed motivation. In these tools they explain how they found the motivation to become successful and accomplish their goals. Use the tools and tips that they provide for motivation to complete your tasks.

Visualize the payoff

Nothing feels better than accomplishing a goal or completing a task. At the beginning, the tasks or goal may seem overwhelming, but once it’s complete the payoff is amazing. Think about what it would cost you if you do not complete the goal or task.

Save it for later

Now saving it for later does not mean that you are not completing the task or goal. If we are not completely focused on the task or goal, then we may make mistakes. Saving it for later means determine the amount of time that the task or goal will take to complete, schedule a day and time, and put it on your calendar. If you decide to save it for later, make sure that you are prepared to complete the task or goal on the scheduled date and time. Do not put it off again.

I hope that you put these strategies into practice. Let me know in the comments if you have trouble staying motivated or if you are a master at motivating yourself. Happy New Year!
